The main objectives of the Hertfordshire Basketball Association are to promote and develop the sport of basketball in Hertfordshire, and to act as the governing body for the sport in the area on behalf of England Basketball.

Some of the activites undertaken by the Association include assisting the organisers of local leagues with the administration of their competitions, arranging appointments of officials for local clubs and competitions, organising coaching and officiating courses, assisting with youth development projects (for example the Herts Youth Games), and liaising with local, regional and national bodies.

The HBA also plays an active role in the East Region Management Committee. The East Region consists of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Association is run by a small group of volunteers who carry out these activities and are elected on an annual basis.
